Joelle Meghoo, B.ARCH
Joelle Meghoo is a senior architect who has been practicing since graduating from the University of Miami with a Bachelor of Architecture since 1994. After a short internship with a firm in Florida specializing in restaurant design she moved to Grand Cayman in 1995 where she has lived since. After working with a local firm for 7 years she joined her husband’s sole practice MJM Design studio 10 years ago.
Her expertise is in custom luxury residential and boutique hotel design. Her love of furniture and all things design has made her progress into Interior design which she finds is a natural progression essential to completing her and her client’s vision for the project. Her view is that there should be a seamless transition between the exterior and interior of a building and this is reflected in her work. The fusion of tropical and modern styles has become her signature and proven to be successful in many of her projects.
Her approach to design starts with listening to the client. The best results are achieved when a client’s needs are met through careful programming, proper site evaluation and sticking with the budget. In addition, Joelle believes that buildings must fit within their environment.
Her most notable work to date is the Cotton Tree cottages boutique hotel in Grand Cayman which was shortlisted for the Governor’s Award 2010. She is also part of the design team for the Hyatt Beach Suites hotel.
